Dear representatives of mass media!
Ladies and gentlemen!
First, on behalf of the delegation of Turkmenistan, I express gratitude to the distinguished Prime Minister of Malaysia Mr. Anwar Ibrahim for the invitation and the conveniences provided for joint work.
Today we have held very constructive talks taking into consideration the interests of our peoples that allowed to define the prospects of economic development, as well as discussed issues of regional and international policy. I thank the representatives of Malaysia for the talks held on a high level.
I would like to emphasize that the positions of Turkmenistan and Malaysia on topical issues of the international agenda coincide or are similar.
Both states follow the principles of peacefulness, equality and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, advocating the strengthening of security and stability in the global and regional dimensions.
Turkmenistan and Malaysia are firm supporters of building a fair and balanced system of international relations taking into account the interests of all states and strengthening the positions of developing countries in world politics. Meetings and talks held today have confirmed the commitment of both sides to these objectives.
We highly value the equal and mutually beneficial relations between Turkmenistan and Malaysia in the framework of major international structures, primarily the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The talks held today encompass a wide range of cooperation, in particular, they have demonstrated the interest of the sides in establishing and expanding trade-economic ties.
In this regard, we see great prospects for joint work on the implementation of projects in such areas as energy, transport and communications, construction, oil and gas processing, chemical industry, high technologies, innovative urban development, tourism and others.
As to the economic cooperation, Turkmenistan expresses interest in intensifying cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
During the talks, we noted the positive experience of bilateral relations and potential for increasing investments. The work of the Malaysian state oil and gas company Petronas Carigali, which has been successfully operating in our country for many years, serves as an example of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.
Strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties is among the key vectors of cooperation. We have agreed to hold joint events aimed at maintaining cultural and humanitarian dialog between our friendly peoples and expanding bilateral relations in this field.
We highly appraise the results of the visit to Malaysia: the agreements reached and important documents adopted will allow us to significantly deepen bilateral relations and realize the vast potential of cooperation in trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other areas.
In conclusion, I express my sincere gratitude to the distinguished Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Anwar Ibrahim, for his hospitality, and also take this opportunity to wish peace, well-being and prosperity to the friendly people of Malaysia!
